2. Bus fares are payable each time a passenger boards a bus. If you are planning to use multiple buses, or make multiple trips you should consider purchasing a Day Pass the first time you board. Day passes are $4.00 for Adults and Youth and $1.25 for Seniors and People with Disabilities with appropriate ID and allow unlimited trips on the day of purchase. Please let the driver know that you would like to purchase a day pass before you put your money in the farebox.
3. You may contact an Operations Supervisor, at 343-8230. You may also fill out a comment card to make the request. There are a lot of considerations with regard to placement of a bus stop that he will be happy to discuss with you.
4. AnchorRIDES is a shared ride curb-to-curb service of the Municipal Public Transportation Department. The Municipal Public Transportation Department provides transportation for senior citizens age 60 or over and ADA paratransit services to:
-
People with physical or mental disabilities that prevent them from using public transportation that is available to the general public
-
People who are temporarily disabled
-
People who may be visiting from out of town that are already eligible with another transportation provider
-
People receiving Medicaid home and community based waivers
For information on eligibility and to obtain applications, call 343-7433. To schedule a ride, call 562-8444.
5. Buses should NEVER be early! In the transit industry, a bus is considered on time if it arrives 0-5 minutes after the published time, but should never be early. Route schedules are based on timepoints. The scheduled stop for each timepoint is listed in the Ride Guide. The rider estimates times at individual bus stops between timepoints. You'll be safe if you estimate the time the bus will arrive as the time shown before your stop in timetable booklet. If you miss your bus, check that your time is the same as our system clock. Report problems to customer service at 343-6544.
6. Routes are designed to serve the most people. A bus route should serve high density housing areas and large businesses with the potential to attract bus riders.
7. Yes! We have a travel-training program that provides free and personalized instruction on how to use the People Mover bus system primarily for people with disabilities, senior citizens and groups, but available to anyone as time permits.
